Hey everyone! I want to share a project I am working on.
A 90s search engine! Yes, you read that right. Although the Wayback Machine is great, it's a bit limiting how their search works and I wanted a real search engine to browse the internet with keywords like you do with Google, but instead of modern websites, you go to how old websites were.
You can find the 90s search engine here.

That's awesome :o
I feel like there should be an option to search for many more websites if possible, but to show the result as a web.archive.org version from 1999, or their oldest functioning snapshot, whichever is earlier

Hmm, yes I could in fact add that by an URL change where a part of the URL is changed to 1999, but not a lot or all websites will work in this way.. It might be better if I add a customizer for that in which you can choose certain years, or if you keep it standard it just displays the most functioning version.
I manually choose the versions of websites which are the best functioning with the least broken images and broken links (if possible), so that it becomes a useful search engine to browse working websites, but your suggestion is not bad to add, perhaps in a later stage.
As for an option to search for many more websites, I am not sure, it works by websites stored in a database in which it retrieves information manually added like the number of people which clicked on certain websites, which makes them rise in popularity and the ranking, that isn't really easily possible with sites not stored in the database. But I want to add an option or page making it easy for normal users to add websites themselves after which I just need to approve them.
